Our firm was approached by an award-winning wine bar franchise – Vin Room – to design a flagship location in the new international terminal of the Calgary Airport. The mandate was very clear: invoke the legacy of the brand yet elevate the level of design beyond their previous builds.
Due to the exposure of the location, our patron wished for a space that would serve the needs of the modern business traveler, while providing an environment of calm and tranquility in a frenetic airport environment. Equally important, we were tasked with creatively realizing a standard for future locations that would allow the franchise to set the tone by creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
Design to Vin Room Brand Standards in coordination with YYC Airport design controls.
Bettered deadlines allowing the client to be the first to begin construction of space which lowered construction costs by minimizing build time.
The result is a beautiful 80-seat space fully outfitted with Wi-Fi and charging stations at every marble topped table. The décor is golden with glass walls filled with over 3,000 wine bottles. The displays are not only for show, storage, and technology further double as wall coverings and restaurant finish, an ode to the effectiveness of modern-day travel
Even at 6 a.m., the 2,000-square foot space is bright, with natural light flooding in from the tall, south facing windows of the terminal. But it is also a quiet, comfortable space where traveler comforts have been taken into consideration at any time of day. Lead / Prime interior Designer for all design & documentation, coordination, procurement, and construction administration.
