A Vision for the Modern Golf Clubhouse

At Mickelson National Golf Club we redefined the traditional golf club space to accommodate the evolving needs of membership and, in doing so, created a model for the future world of golf and club.

Like a beloved set of clubs passed down through generations, there is beauty and history in traditional golf club design. But just as modern clubs incorporate new materials and technologies to enhance performance, contemporary clubhouses must evolve—embracing not only new amenities but a broader vision of club life to elevate both member experience and operational success.

As Phil Mickelson’s first signature course in Canada, the project demanded a facility capable of hosting PGA Tour events while creating memorable experiences for golf pros and spectators alike.

At Mickelson National Golf Club, we've crafted a vision for the modern clubhouse that honors golf's storied traditions while embracing its future.

Our design preserves the essential elements of classic golf clubs—premium locker rooms, professional-grade simulators, and spaces for serious players—while introducing the warmth and versatility of resort hospitality.

Through strategic zoning, we’ve created fluid spaces that transition seamlessly from dining venues to event locations to casual gathering spots. This thoughtful orchestration maintains the private sanctuary members expect while welcoming the broader community to engage with the property.

Here, casual community members and dedicated golf enthusiasts alike find their place in sophisticated yet approachable spaces. Restaurants and lounges strike a perfect balance between refinement and comfort. Most importantly, the facility functions as that elusive “third place”—beyond home and work—where members can relax into unstructured time and authentic connection.

The result transcends the traditional clubhouse model. Here, casual community members and dedicated golf enthusiasts alike find their place in sophisticated yet approachable spaces.

This design approach ensures both immediate appeal and lasting relevance, driving membership growth while optimizing revenue.

It’s a model that demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can preserve golf’s cherished legacy while creating spaces that will captivate future generations.
