Repurposing a Beaux-Arts Bank Into a Hospitality-Infused Trading Headquarters

Workplace meets resort living in this hybrid office space.

This project was an opportunity to repurpose an existing Beaux Arts bank building and reimagine it for a modern company who values their employees and the rigorous demands put on them by their high-intensity line of work. This project isn’t just an office, it’s a way of living and a blueprint for the next generation of office spaces.

When a leading energy trading firm sought a new headquarters, they approached DMA+id with an ambitious vision: merge the technological demands of modern trading with the comforts of a luxury resort. Principal Richard Davignon guided the acquisition of a 1950s Beaux-Arts bank building, recognizing its potential for transformation into a high-performance workspace.

The renovation demanded more than typical office modernization. Our integrated architecture and interior design expertise enabled us to appreciate the building’s historic character while completely reimagining its purpose—including the technical feat of installing a pool in the original bank vault.

The design strategy divides the space into three distinct zones:

The trading floor serves as command central—an open-concept environment engineered for peak performance during intense trading sessions, with state-of-the-art technology and ergonomic optimization throughout.

Above, the executive suite offers refined private offices that balance authority with connectivity. Thoughtful material choices lend an air of prestige while maintaining practical functionality.

When team members need a break from the intensity of the trading floor or the structure of the executive suites, they can escape to the hospitality level where the best of resort living awaits. Features include saunas, sleeping pods, gym, bar, and lounge areas, as well as a staffed chef’s kitchen for nourishing meals or onsite events. Top of the line golf and racing simulators offer a fun and effective reset during a demanding workday.

Here, team members find refuge in an array of resort-caliber amenities: saunas, sleeping pods, a fully equipped gym, sophisticated bar and lounge spaces, and a staffed chef's kitchen for both daily nourishment and onsite events.
